Adeusinho Village

Azenhas do Mar, Sintra

Function:

Newly built by the architect Álvaro Siza, this studio-housing for artists’ reception is in a location and environmentally and scenically valuable.

It develops in “L” shape parallel to the road, and the program is distributed in two floors, one of which is below ground level. The façade is made of reinforced concrete walls; the slabs are lightened and/or solid, depending on the spans and the loads they are subject to. Given the proximity of the sea, the control in the execution of the concrete was quite exhaustive, both in the study of its composition and in the assembly of the steel elements, given the need to seek larger coverings, thus conditioning some minimum thicknesses of the respective concrete elements.
