Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Plant

Baixo Sabor, Douro, Portugal

The intervention includes the support building, substation and POC, respective accesses and retaining walls in the Downstream bracket. This set corresponds to the constituent elements of the exploitation that are apparent in the landscape beyond the dam wall. The buildings were designed in exposed concrete maintaining an appearance similar to the wall. The support / containment walls are essentially elements of stabilization of the excavation slopes, of rocky nature and of almost vertical slope. The choice for the interior and exterior exposed concrete of the buildings resulted in laborious coordination with the complex installations of a hydroelectric station.
