Campo Maior, Portugal
The Mayor winery, authored by Alvaro Siza, is the first Portuguese authored winery and aims the production and storage of wine. Located in Herdade das Argamassas, in Campo Mayor, the building has a rectangular shape of 40m by 120m, It was opened in 2007 and has an investment of eight million euros.
The building is implemented on a gentle slope and according an axis perpendicular to the counter lines, which allows easy access to two dimension of floor (312.00 and 316.00) without the need to intervene in the surrounding land. The building has a single floor at its greatest extent, and at one end, where is located the main entrance, has an office area with 3 floors. At level 0 is the lobby (Reception and Vertical access) and the warehouse, on the 1st floor are located the laboratories and offices and finally the second floor is intended for touristic use.
In the central area of storage, with about 80 meters long, structurally constituted by a slab with two adjacent openings 12 and 18 meters, on which there is a garden area intended for leisure, there is the use of prestrsessed by post-tension in the concrete slab, justified by the option longitudinal dimension which precludes the use of two directions of resistance, contrary to what happens in the top north. At the north end zone, rectangular 16 by 20 meters, contiguous with the central and north with a console, as it is supported on four sides, it was possible to consider the slab resistance in both directions and dispense with the use of prestressing.
