Urban Intervention on Oporto Center

Porto, Portugal

Function:

It is a project elaborated in co-authorship by the two Portuguese Pritzker prizes, the Architect Álvaro Siza and the Architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. All the streets covered by the urban requalification project were profiled altimetrically and planimetrically, with the complete replacement of the existing pavement materials and urban furniture. At Praça Humberto Delgado, Praça da Trindade and sidewalks around the Church of Trindade, Order of Trindade and Porto City Hall, the damaged pavements were repaired and replaced.

The level of coverage of the Trindade metro station, which covers the entire surface station, is nothing more than an area for the circulation of people between different areas of the station and surrounding areas, linking Rua de Camões to the Alferes Malheiro lane, to Rua Ensign Malheiro and the metro station. The roof consists of a granite cube path and an extensive garden area, which we propose to be treated as a meadow (the target of a landscaping project). The area next to the station, on the North side, and having the existing walls to the North, East and West as its limit, and the station’s south limit was treated as a green area in which a meadow was also proposed and which is the target of a specific project. of landscaper. With the conversion of the Trindade Station, a new square is created and the main access to the Station is through this square.
