Xangai Pavilion

Xangai, China

Alvaro Siza opened in 2019, for the CAMERICH brand, a pavilion in Shanghai, at the 44th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF 2019). This building, prefabricated and clad in aluminum foil, was chosen for its strong connection to the principles of the Bauhaus school and its strong link to China

The building presents an irregular plan and the interior spaces (with white surfaces, diffused lighting, wooden floors, among others…) contrast with the exterior surface, consisting of mineral wool and aluminum foil.

The structure consists of a system of tubular metal frames, where the exterior and interior claddings are fixed, respectively, mineral wool and aluminum foil (which in turn are fixed to plywood panels) and a plasterboard structure.
